EL CERRITO — Police have arrested a 21-year-old Oakland resident in connection with a fatal shooting on April 23, authorities said Friday.Malachi Cox was arrested Wednesday in Citrus Heights in the killing of 18-year-old Sincere Martin, a former De Anza High and El Cerrito High school football player.Martin was fatally shot about 4:30 p.m. April 23 in the 900 block of Galvin Drive, an area where police said he had been visiting people he knew.Police have not released a motive for the killing or said if the two men knew each other.Police did say in a release that Cox is associated with a 4-door white Toyota that was seen fleeing westbound on Stockton Avenue from Galvin Drive after the shooting.Police have not said exactly how they traced Cox to Citrus Heights in Sacramento County.But they did credit the Oakland Police Department Ceasefire and Intelligence units and U.S. Marshals in helping locate him.Cox has been booked at the Martinez Detention Facility and is being held with...Favre denies wrongdoing in Miss. welfare scandal

OAKLAND — A 20-year-old Berkeley resident has pleaded no contest to distributing nude photographs of 13 people and been sentenced to nine months in jail, as part of a plea deal with Alameda County prosecutors, court records show.Liam Burgmann, a Berkeley High alumni, allegedly hacked multiple Berkeley High students’ Snapchat accounts, targeting teen girls for their underage photographs. (BCN) -- A pedestrian was injured critically when a U.S. Department of Homeland Security officer was in pursuit of a car in Oakland Thursday evening, police said Friday.The collision, which also involved another car, occurred just after 5:30 p.m. near 23rd Avenue, East 11th Street and Interstate Highway 880. (KTXL) -- The suspect in the Davis stabbings that occurred over the last week and who was detained Wednesday afternoon made his first court appearance Friday.Carlos Dominguez, 21, of Davis, appeared at the Yolo County Superior Court in Woodland to hear the charges against him: two charges of murder and a charge of attempted murder, with a special circumstance for committing multiple murders.This special circumstance makes the case eligible for a sentence of life without the possibility of parole or the death penalty, according to the Yolo County District Attorney's Office. Dominguez, who is represented by a public defender, pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and the judge decided against bail.
